Osteopathy · Brighton & Lewes

Hands-on help to feel like yourself again.

Osteopathy is a hands-on approach to assessing, treating and preventing pain and injury. It's ideal when something is recent, sore, or simply needs skilled hands and a clear plan. My preference for neck pain and headaches.

Who it's for

If it's recent or sore, start here.

  • Recent injuries and new onset of pain
  • Neck pain, headaches and jaw tension
  • Back pain and sciatica
  • Shoulder, hip and knee problems
  • Sports and training-related aches
  • Pain that's left you tense, guarded or unsure of your body

What to expect

Your first visit, and beyond.

Initial appointment

60 minutes

We start with your story — what happened, what you've tried, and what you want back. Then a detailed physical assessment, hands-on treatment, and a plan you actually understand before you leave.

Follow-up

30–45 minutes

We review how you've responded, continue treatment, and progress your exercises. Most recent problems need only a handful of sessions — I'll be honest about how many.

Treatment techniques

Skilled hands, sound reasoning.

01

Soft tissue & massage

Releasing tight, guarded muscles and improving how tissue moves.

02

Joint articulation & manipulation

Restoring movement where joints have become stiff or restricted.

03

Stretching & mobilisation

Gentle, targeted work to give you back range and comfort.

04

Exercise & self-management

Simple, specific things to do between sessions so progress holds.

Questions

Good things to know.

Do I need a referral?+

No. You can book directly — most people come to me without a GP referral. If I ever think you need onward medical care, I'll tell you honestly.

What should I wear?+

Comfortable clothing you can move in. For some assessments it helps to expose the area we're working on, but your comfort and dignity come first — always.

Will treatment hurt?+

Osteopathy shouldn't be painful. Some techniques create a firm sensation, and you might feel a little worked the next day, much like after exercise. I go at your pace.

How many sessions will I need?+

It depends on the problem. Many recent issues settle in two to four sessions. I'll give you an honest sense of this after your first assessment — never an open-ended plan.

Is osteopathy evidence-informed?+

Yes. My approach draws on current evidence for pain and rehabilitation, including the role of the nervous system — not just hands-on technique. I'll always explain the reasoning.
